Greetings foolish mortals.  Another momentous day in the world of the BBP was September 2nd, 2010.  This was the day where my technologically challenged boss decided the bank I was the IT Manager at, would be better off without my department as he was outsourcing us.  Needless to say, we were walked out of the operations center with no fanfare or any thanks.  We went and had a few drinks and the next day found out we were getting a pathetic severance package and that was it.  This was in the midst of a recession and no one was hiring though I did have one interview with another bank that the job description fit me perfectly.  The interview went great and I thought I had a job but then I got the dreaded email stating they would not be moving on with me.  I reached out to the manager I interviewed with and he informed me that they had just gone into a hiring freeze and no positions were being hired.  I was devastated as I did not have any more interviews for nearly 3 months when my best friend from high school gave me the name of a company to try and so I did.  Within a half hour, I had an interview and couple hours later I had a job offer. It was a very good paying job and I would be working with the military again except I was going to have to go to Afghanistan.  While this was a very difficult decision, and one I may not have made again if I had the chance, I took it and set off for Afghanistan where I would be stationed for the next 10 months.  During this time, I was headhunted by another company that wanted me to come to Iraq and work for them.  It didn't hurt that they were willing to pay me $75,000 more a year for 1 more year.  I took it and spent the next year moving around Iraq.
Before I even made it back to the states, I had companies coming after me to work for them and so I had a selection to choose from.  And since then, I have had so many doors open for me and have traveled around the world on the governments dime and seen places I never thought I would see.  The Eiffel Tower, Berlin Wall, Prague, skied on top of a glacier in Austria in August and so many more places.
So needless to say, it may have seemed horrible on September 2nd, 2010, but life and my hard work and dedication has certainly paid off and made things so much better. So with that...eff off KB!!!

Until next time...

BBP out!!!
