Sep 2nd - One door closes but the world opens

September 10, 2025
Greetings foolish mortals.  Another momentous day in the world of the BBP was September 2nd, 2010.  This was the day where my technologically challenged boss decided the bank I was the IT Manager at, would be better off without my department as he was outsourcing us.  Needless to say, we were walked out of the operations center with no fanfare or any thanks.  We went and had a few drinks and the next day found out we were getting a pathetic severance package and that was it.  This was in the midst of a recession and no one was hiring though I did have one interview with another bank that the job description fit me perfectly.  The interview went great and I thought I had a job but then I got the dreaded email stating they would not be moving on with me.  I reached out to the manager I interviewed with and he informed me that they had just gone into a hiring freeze and no positions were being hired.  I was devastated as I did not have any more interviews for nearly 3 months when my best friend from high school gave me the name of a company to try and so I did.  Within a half hour, I had an interview and couple hours later I had a job offer. It was a very good paying job and I would be working with the military again except I was going to have to go to Afghanistan.  While this was a very difficult decision, and one I may not have made again if I had the chance, I took it and set off for Afghanistan where I would be stationed for the next 10 months.  During this time, I was headhunted by another company that wanted me to come to Iraq and work for them.  It didn't hurt that they were willing to pay me $75,000 more a year for 1 more year.  I took it and spent the next year moving around Iraq.
Before I even made it back to the states, I had companies coming after me to work for them and so I had a selection to choose from.  And since then, I have had so many doors open for me and have traveled around the world on the governments dime and seen places I never thought I would see.  The Eiffel Tower, Berlin Wall, Prague, skied on top of a glacier in Austria in August and so many more places.
So needless to say, it may have seemed horrible on September 2nd, 2010, but life and my hard work and dedication has certainly paid off and made things so much better. So with that...eff off KB!!!

Until next time...

Sep 8th - A Special day

September 10, 2025
Greetings foolish mortals.  I know it's a day late but I was super busy yesterday so I am updating the site tonight.

September 8th is a special day for the BBP.  It saw us join the United States Navy as a young, naive 18 year old kid who was leaving home for the first time.  Getting at the recruiter at 0500 on Monday morning and going to the Tampa MEPs station where we were sworn in as a member of the Navy to uphold and protect the constitution of the United States of America.  It is an oath I...

Sep 1st - Welcome to September

September 2, 2025
Greetings foolish mortals and welcome to September.  Well, the birthday month is over and we are back home after nearly a week in SoCal.

August was a great month, as always, and now we're looking at the best time of year.  The Halloween events have started here at Universal Orlando.  Also starting at Epcot, is the Food and Wine Festival.  While I missed the opening days and nights of these events, I will be visiting both.

Just a quick update so until next time...

Aug 1st - The best month is here

August 2, 2025
Welcome foolish mortals to the best month of them all...August.  This is the month the BBP was born into this world and even though it's hot as hell, there is much room for celebration.

Getting ready to start the party that will last the full month.  Hopefully, things will cool down a little bit.  Tonight is actually a pleasant evening with a decent breeze and maybe another storm.  We shall see how it plays out.

Gonna post some more through the month...I mean it.

So until then...

BBP out!!!...

July 22nd - Special Day

July 23, 2025
Welcome foolish mortals to a very special day.  Today, 14 years ago, the sweetest, most loving grandmother left this world.  While I have several days in my life that have unique meaning to each one, this is one that means a lot to me in terms of my grandmother.  I was, unfortunately, unable to see her one last time before she left but I know she went peacefully and I've said my goodbyes and have spoken to her on several occasions.  She is always in my heart and thoughts.

I love you and miss y...

July 1st - July’s here

July 1, 2025
Greetings foolish mortals and welcome to July.

Well last month was a busy and crazy one for the BBP. Finally got into our house and have now been working on trying to get things in place. However, that is a slow process and I’m in no rush as there’s no lease or anything that has me set against time. Enjoying the moment.

We are now full blown into summer and hurricane season. Not enjoying these hot days but looking forward to the evolution of the theme parks transforming into Halloween eve...

June 22, 2025
Greetings, foolish mortals!!!  Today the BBP Is officially in his home. We closed Friday morning after numerous weeks of issues that kept popping up by the lender or someone who is just determined to stop us from buying this house. It was stressful, frustrating, aggravating, and so much more but luckily we saw it through And now have a home. Finished closing out the apartment today and unfortunately the office is closed on Sunday so I’m going to have to take my keys tomorrow after work. Tod...

June 2nd - Welcome to hurricane season

June 2, 2025
Welcome foolish mortals to another hurricane season.  They've reported this is going to be more active than last year so we shall see as we got hit twice in a matter of weeks.

Not really in the best of moods as my house buying has hit a last minute snag and really irritated me.  I'm dealing with that uncertainty and it's gotten me pretty pissed.

On top of the house stuff, I once again, got denied by the VA.  I swear, what do I have to do to get them to listen?  I'm so sick of all this and jus...
